Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Just as summer is a time to get away, enjoy beautiful scenery, recharge, and think about life, we are going to get away as a church to the Psalms and enjoy the beautiful scenery of God's prayer book.  While letting His Spirit recharge us with the deep wisdom that is woven throughout the 150 Psalms, we will be thinking deeply about our lives and how our lives relate to God and His work in the world.  Each Sunday we will be looking at a Psalm to help us answer some of the deep questions we have about God and our world.

We invite you to join us as we do a deep dive into the Psalms in order to know ourselves, our world, and our God more deeply. Today we begin with the question, Does God exist? Today Psalm 90 will not only help us to answer this question, but also to see why our answer matters.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

This week is the final week in our series through the book of Jonah. In our short time through the book, we have covered a lot that tells us a great deal about ourselves and the heart of God. We have been brought to a clearer understanding of sin, and what it means to repent of sin. We have seen the life of Jonah saved and transformed by God's grace, and we have seen an entire city brought to repent of their evil ways.

But now, we come to the most difficult part of the story of Jonah, his reaction to God pardoning Nineveh. Rather than rejoicing, he is filled with anger and disgust. As God talks with Jonah in his anger, He asks him three questions. These three questions reveal both Jonah's heart and, in the end, God's heart too. It is in this final chapter of the book that we get the main message of the story, that God's merciful compassion is not exclusive.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Last week we saw how God's grace both challenged and rescued Jonah in the belly of the huge fish Jonah was brought to a moment of death in order to be raised to new life by God's grace.

This week Jonah 3 will tell us of what Jonah's "resurrection" led to as an entire city repents of their evil ways.

This morning our challenge is to see how the bedrock of our faith, that there is life through death, can inform not only our personal faith, but also our public witness through evangelism.

As you hear today's Scripture and message, imagine what the city of Lansing would be like if we truly lived this out.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Last week we began our sermon series through the story of Jonah who acted much like a mirror for us as he reflected back to us our own sinful and rebellious hearts, through his own sin and running from God.

Our overall focus for this series is on the fact that God is raising up for Himself people who are so transformed by His grace that they desire to see the lives of others transformed by this very same grace.

We see in the story of Jonah how God is relentless in the pursuit of His people by how He pursues both Jonah and the city of Nineveh, but before Jonah can bring a change about in Nineveh, he must first be changed himself. Before he can bring Nineveh to repent, he first must repent himself. Before he can tell about God's grace, he must first experience it himself. This morning in Jonah 2 we will see how God's grace brings about a change in our lives by how He brings about a change in Jonah.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

After a thorough study on the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we move today from looking at the empty tomb to looking at the heart of the God who is behind its happening.

Today we begin a new series titled, Relentless, in which we will be looking through the book of Jonah at how God is relentless in His pursuit of both a lost prophet and a lost city. Our focus in this series is on how God is raising up for Himself people whose lives are transformed by His grace and long for the lives of others to be transformed as well.

We begin our study today by seeing in Jonah, a reflection of ourselves. Jonah 1 will help us to see the problem of our sin in order that we will see the solution that God is merciful to provide in His rescuing grace. Before we can tell of grace's rescue, we must first know the rescue ourselves.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

We are no strangers to God's amazing grace. We know it well and love to sing our praises to God for it. But when was the last time God's grace surprised you? When was the last time God's grace challenged you? When was the last time God's grace made you a bit uncomfortable?

Join us for our new series, "Relentless," as we plunge into the depths of God's amazing grace in the story of Jonah. We will see the surprising, challenging, and at times uncomfortable ways that He is at work by His grace to win hearts back to Him. Many know Jonah as the story with a big fish and a reluctant prophet, and these things are true, but at the heart of Jonah's story is a God who is relentless in His pursuit of us. He will not stop until He brings us to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Today we are continuing our series of exploring the reality of the resurrection and the "Living Hope"that we have through faith in our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by looking at how the resurrection can help us with our shame.

Just like our fear and our doubts, shame is a constant foe of ours that robs us of our joy and our faith in Christ. It is not hard for us to imagine the painful feeling of shame that flooded the mind of Peter in the days following his denial. Shame is an all too often shared experience among us, but today we will see how the love of Christ pursues us to set us free, and how it is the powerful love of Christ which silences even our deepest shame.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Since our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday, we have been not only examining the truth of Jesus' resurrection, but also the impact that this truth has on our everyday lives. We havebeen brought to discover the living hope we claim through faith in Jesus who is "the Resurrection and the Life. We have also seen how this living hope speaks to the fears that we face by reminding us of the assurance of our faith in God, who has restored our lives and holds us secure in Jesus Christ.

Today we come to another natural emotion in our lives, doubt, and as we hear the story of the most famous skeptic to ever live, we will see how our doubts can actually be a springboard for us to dive deeper into our faith. This morning we will see how faith is the answer to the doubts and to the questions that we have.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

On Easter Sunday we looked at the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and began to contemplate the impact of its reality on our everyday lives. Last week in hearing Jesus tell us in John 11 that He is "the Resurrection and the Life," we experienced the "living hope" we have through faith in Him.

Today we continue to explore the impact the resurrection of Jesus has on our everyday lives by looking at how it helps us deal with our fears. Through John 20:19-23 this morning we see that it is not the absence of fear that marks our Christian lives of faith in Christ, but rather it is what we do when we are faced with our fears that is the mark of a life united through faith in the risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Last Sunday as we celebrated Easter we began a new sermon series titled, The Resurrection and the Life. Our focus in this series is not only on the reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but also on how the reality of His resurrection transforms our everyday lives.  Through this series we will see how the hope we celebrate on Easter is so much more than just a one Sunday a year kind of hope.

Today our focus is on how in His resurrection and life Jesus gives us a hope that radically changes how we live. This morning we will see how faith in our crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ, transforms our lives not just for all eternity, but also in the here and now.

April 4, 2021 Easter

Greetings from all of us at Immanuel”

Pastor Matt Lee will be leading our study today in John 20:1-18, asking, “Did the resurrection of Jesus actually happen?”  “And if it did happen, does it change anything about our lives?” “What difference does the resurrection of Jesus Christ make for us more than 2,000 years later in the year 2021?”

This morning, on Easter Sunday, we are beginning a new sermon series titled, "The Resurrection and the Life", focusing on the life changing reality of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Join us today and over the next 4 weeks as we begin to ponder and explore the reality of Jesus Christ being raised from death to life and what it means for our lives today.

Pray for Our Missionaries

While Uganda’s schools are closed due to the pandemic lockdown, the government required that they send VOH orphans out in community to stay with their guardians. Most of these guardians are medically-hindered and have many orphans under their roof. Please lift their needs up in prayer. Please also pray for health as the schools begin to reopen on a staggered schedule, for protection during this time as some men are taking advantage of the girls, and for the safety of the staff as they travel long distances into the bush, putting their lives on the line in order to serve.

To hear more prayer requests from ICRC, please call 321-2495, extension 191, or if you have a personal prayer request, please contact Marcia J. You may also submit a prayer request on our website at www.icrclansing.org.

April 1, 2021 Maundy Thursday Communion Service

Tonight, as we hear from God's Word and celebrate Communion together we are reminded of how our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ humbled Himself to serve us and save us on the cross. As the Apostle Paul tells us of Christ in Philippians 2:7-8, "He made Himself nothing," and became obedient to the point of death on the cross.

On this Thursday night before the cross, traditionally called Maundy Thursday, we reflect on what Christ has done for us and how He calls us to witness to the good news of His redeeming work.
