In this series we hope to reclaim Revelation as the beautiful gift it is for the church. Revelation is easily the most misunderstood and feared book of the Bible. Which is unfortunate, because, as we will see in this series, Revelation was originally written to bring comfort not confusion. Its words were meant to inspire confidence, not incite fear. Its vivid imagery is meant to describe the world as it is, not predict its ending. Revelation was originally written to seven churches who existed during a time of great persecution and oppression against Christians.

The words of Revelation were meant to give its hearers confidence to endure in faithfulness to Christ and His mission while living amid an uncertain and threatening world.

The resource has one weekly overview reading and five daily reflection readings. If you would like to receive a digital copy of this resource via email please sign-up through our website.

Welcoming Worship Room: This is an alternative space to worship on Sunday mornings. It is available for everyone, including children who need a little extra wiggle space, adults who need a comfortable chair to sit in and put their feet up, or new mothers and babies.

The worship service is streamed in real time. The furniture is comfortable. There is a children's corner with activities and toys for the kids.

Our hope is that this room provides a space that makes the worship experience of all individuals and families feel more welcoming.  Please feel free to use this room whenever you are in need. To find it, go to the back of the sanctuary and down the stairs on the right.

What is the story that defines your life? What is the narrative which helps you see the world and find your place in it? You may not realize it, but all of us are living by some sort of story. It could be something as common as the story of the American Dream or the beloved story of the underdog. Or it could be a cultural narrative like the ones told by the philosophies of conservatism, progressivism, or relativism. The reality is, even if you don’t realize it your life has been shaped by a particular story. Everything from your hometown to your chosen political party shapes how you view the world and your place in it. In this series we will explore the metanarrative of Scripture to see how the grand overarching story of Scripture tells us not only who God is and how God is at work, but also how this Story defines and directs our lives as God invites us through Scripture to find our place in it.

A metanarrative is “an overarching account or interpretation of events and circumstances that provides a pattern or structure for people’s beliefs and gives meaning to their experiences.” In this series, Metanarrative, we will explore how the overarching story of Scripture is the story of God’s redemptive mission to restore us and all of His creation to shalom by putting all things right and making all things new in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. Our aim in this series will be to ask of Scripture, not, how does Scripture relate to my life, but rather, how does my life relate to the story of Scripture?

What is the story that defines your life? What is the narrative which helps you see the world and find your place in it? You may not realize it, but all of us are living by some sort of story. It could be something as common as the story of the American Dream or the beloved story of the underdog. Or it could be a cultural narrative like the ones told by the philosophies of conservatism, progressivism, or relativism. The reality is, even if you don’t realize it your life has been shaped by a particular story. Everything from your hometown to your chosen political party shapes how you view the world and your place in it. Tension is not something we often think of when it comes to Christmas, yet if you pay attention it is everywhere.

Though Christmas is often a season marked by comfort and joy it is also a season that brings the tension of stressed schedules, stretched budgets, patience spread thin, and strained relationships. Try as we might to avoid it, tension is a reality of the Christmas season. But as we will explore in this series it is also a part of the Christmas Story.

In this series for the season of Advent we will explore the tension of the Christmas Story to see how God is present and working in and through the tension of despair and hope, doubt and faith, weakness and strength, and the mystery of Christmas that is God with us. As we explore the tension of the Story perhaps we will find hope in unexpected places.

December 10, 2023

November Mission of the Month: This year we are sponsoring a single mom from Central Africa, and her 5 year old daughter. We will also be sponsoring a 33 year old man from Afghanistan, and a 21 year old female from Guinea.

During the month of November, we will have an Angel tree set up outside of the sanctuary with gift tags to choose from. Each tag will tell you who the gift is for, their age, and a desired gift. (We will also have wish lists posted on the bulletin board next to the tree.)

After purchasing your gift, we ask that you return it here to Immanuel unwrapped.  Please also turn in your original receipt, or a copy of it, with the gift purchased underlined. This is for "charitable contribution" tracking purposes.  No gift receipts please.

Wrapping paper, gift tags, and tape are also welcomed donations for this very important mission.
