June Calling Team: Please call Marcia J or Jennifer B with any special concerns or requests.
June Mission of the Month: Forgotten Man Ministries: Believes in the redemption, rehabilitation and restoration of inmates through Jesus Christ. They empower chaplains and volunteers to share hope and salvation with the “forgotten” men and women incarcerated in Michigan’s county jails.
Consistory Updates:
1) The most recent update on reopening was emailed to you on Monday. If you did not receive a copy of this important update please let us know and we will mail one to you ASAP.
2) This week expect another update that spells out our plan for outdoor worship services beginning June 28 at 10am. As soon as we have the appropriate safety measures put in place for moving indoors, we will open the doors to the building and begin worshipping in our sanctuary once again. Services will continue to be posted on Facebook Sunday mornings at 10am.
3) The elders are preparing a Pastoral job description to be added to the Church Profile that is being worked on by the Search Team. This profile will be posted on search sites and sent to prospective candidates. A finished copy will be shared with you before posting.
General Announcements: Volunteers Needed, Sunday mornings:
We will need additional assistance with greeting, ushering, and cleaning on Sunday mornings as we prepare for re-opening the sanctuary for indoor worship. Consider serving in one of the following areas on a weekly, monthly, bi-monthly basis until all safety measures have been lifted:
1) Greeting - offering a warm welcome to members and guests and helping to keep traffic moving into and out of the sanctuary.
2) Ushering - directing people to seating that is 6 ft from others. Ushers will also dismiss people at the end of the service in a manner that is consistent with proper social distancing.
3) Cleaning - All surfaces will need to be wiped down with disinfectant following the worship service in preparation for our sister congregation, Siloam, to gather in the shared space. (Siloam will make sure surfaces are cleaned following the second service).
If you can assist in one of these areas please let us know so we can schedule a brief training.
Kids Videos/ Activities: This Sunday we will talk about moving on after messing up. Most people are afraid of failure. But we can bounce back from problems—even problems that we created—when we remember that Jesus loves us, no matter what. This video along with an activity and some trivia questions will be posted to our website after the service. You can access them by clicking the link below. http://www.icrclansing.org/kids-lessons. Currently we have 2 lessons posted, “Worry-Warts” and “Storms, Spiders, and Scary Movies.”
Painting Classes with Sandi- Painting classes will begin again in the choir room here at ICRC, this Tuesday, June 23, at 6:30 pm. If you enjoy painting and are interested in participating, please feel free to just show up and join in the fun! The choir room will be well ventilated with the windows open, social distancing requirements of 6 feet apart will be exercised, masks are strongly recommended.
New Keys to be Distributed: The locks here at ICRC will be changed soon. If you currently have a key and are eligible to receive a new one, you will have to sign for it and check it out with Gary Atkins. On June 28th, after the outdoor service, Gary will have a table set up inside of the pole barn for you to sign for and check out your key. You will not need to return your old key, please just hold on to it for the time being. The locks will not be changed until everybody that is eligible has received their key. You are also responsible to return the key back to Gary and sign it back in if you happen to leave your position and no longer need it.
Thank You for Your Continued Tithes and Offerings: The ongoing ministry of the church relies on the generous giving of its members. Even though we won’t be gathering at the church building you may submit your tithes and offerings online via our website at, www.icrclansing.org, and then click on “Giving” at the top of the page, or you may mail them to our office at 3200 Delta River Dr., Lansing MI, 48906
