Community is an integral part of our lives. God made us to be in community with one another and as a church we deeply value the gift of community. Yet, if you were to do a word study of the pages of Scripture, you would not find the word community used all that often. Instead, in the New Testament, especially in Acts, and the New Testament letters, a different word is used to describe the community of the early church, fellowship.
Fellowship is a word that we don't use all that often in our everyday lives, so in this series, we will be exploring what the early church meant by fellowship and discover how the gift of fellowship makes the community that we share together as a church unique and powerful. Through the fellowship of the early church, we will discover what it means that the church is, as Dietrich Bonhoeffer once described the church to be, "Christ existing as community."
