ANNOUNCEMENTS

Sunday Worship: We Will Again Offer Both Online and Outdoor Worship this Sunday, at 10am.  To view the service on Facebook, please click on the following link provided.  https://www.facebook.com/ICRCLansing/.

In Case of Rain: Outdoor services will be cancelled and shown live on Facebook starting at 10am. Consistory will make the decision by 8am so there is time to contact each of you before you leave for church.

September Calling Team:  Please call Mike J or Carrie B with any special concerns or requests.

September Mission of the Month: “No Senior Without a Christmas”.  This year TRIAD will fill 400 boxes with household supplies, non-perishable food, and holiday cheer. The boxes are delivered to needy, older adults living in the tri-county region of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties. Each box is delivered by uniformed public safety personnel, including law enforcement and fire personnel.  This beloved event is only possible through the generous support of local businesses, organizations, and community members. Each year, TRIAD raises about $25,000 to ensure that each box is filled with meaningful and useful items. Each box costs about $72, with certain items costing as little as $1. Every donated dollar helps to make a local senior citizen’s holiday a little brighter!

Consistory Updates:

Worshipping back indoors - The Consistory supported a decision to move worship services back inside beginning September 13. Sam Eldersveld, a senior student at Western Theological Seminary, will be preaching from Jeremiah that morning. A programming update will be made at the end of the service regarding Children, Youth and Adult discipleship this fall. We are committed to assuring the following safety precautions: A clean, sanitized worship space, 6ft distancing between households, required masks during transition times (encouraged but not required once seated) and singing while in the building. Volunteers will help guide flow into and out of the building as well as ushering you to your seats in order to maintain safe distancing. If you have questions or can help out on Sunday mornings in a greeter, usher or cleaning capacity please contact the church office (office@icrclansing.org).

Ordination and Installation of Elders and Deacons - The transition of leadership will also take place on Sunday, September 13, during the morning worship service. Mike Johnson and Sue Feenstra will be installed as elders, while Eric Carlson and Sandy Carey will be installed and deacons. Sandy Carey will also be ordained as a deacon.

September Communion - In light of the extra parts of worship scheduled to take place during the worship service on September 13 the consistory has scheduled communion to take place on September 20, one week later. We will once again use pre-packaged communion kits as another step toward keeping everyone safe.

Leadership Retreat - John Messer (RCA) and Pastor Tom will be leading Consistory, Staff and the Search Team through John Kaiser's book, Winning on Purpose, which details the Accountable Leadership Model adopted by Consistory in previous years. An accurate understanding of this model will help the Consistory and Staff function in ways that enhance the mission and vision while assisting the Search Team in recognizing fit for the next Lead Pastor of ICRC! The retreat will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 8am - 2pm.

Search Team Update:  More Good News to share! Ten (10) folks have shown interest in the Lead Pastor position and are in various stages of submitting their applications. The search team met this week and made the decision to extend the job posting period for an additional two (2) weeks, to maximize exposure on the job boards and other locations the position has been made available for potential candidates to consider. The NEW job posting end date will be Friday, 9-25-2020, instead of Friday, 9-11-2020.

Please continue to pray for the search process and our future pastor. Specific prayer requests:

·  The Holy Spirit will lead applicants to apply

·  Our future pastor is prepared and/or being prepared

·  Our future pastor's life ministry aligns with our mission, vision & values

·  Our future pastor yearns to lead ICRC to fulfill God's preferred future

·  Search Team remains healthy and productive

Grateful,

Michelle
